History: Iowa Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (IDEC) is the largest endocrine practice in the state of Iowa, providing comprehensive health care services to adult patients diagnosed with diabetes and hormonal disorders.
Research Focus: Formed in 2007, our research center strives to ensure diabetic patients have access to, and can benefit from, the latest diabetes research and treatment.

Iowa Heart Center

History: Iowa Heart Center and Mercy have grown to more than 60 cardiologists and surgeons who specialize in cardiovascular care. Iowa Heart Center and Mercy providers perform more than 10,000 cardiac interventions annually and are respected for their aggressive treatment and prevention of heart and vascular problems. The experience of the providers coupled with their wide array of knowledge gives Iowa Heart Center and Mercy patients the comfort of knowing they are receiving the best care available.
Research Focus: The Research Department’s purpose is to conduct studies of high scientific value achieving the dual purpose of enhancing cutting edge patient care and increasing physician enjoyment of practicing medicine in a progressive scientific environment.

University of Iowa – Institute for Clinical and Translational Science

History: The ICTS is one of 60 leading medical research institutions located throughout the nation participating in the Clinical and Translational Science Award Consortium and is supported in part by award number 2 UL1 TR000442-06 from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, and the National Institutes of Health. Our combined resources, efforts, and commitment are transforming how biomedical research is conducted by accelerating the translation of medical discoveries into actual treatments, engaging communities in clinical research efforts, and training new clinical and translational investigators.

History: As Iowa’s first stand-alone facility to combine both radiation and chemotherapy treatment, and offer full support services in one convenient location, the Center has stood as a promise of hope for those with cancer. Covenant Cancer Treatment Center is just one part of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s integrated program, committed to maintaining its accreditation in the best interest of the patient.
Research Focus: Current open protocols include studies in prostate, breast, lung, rectal, colon, multiple myeloma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, ovarian, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST), renal cell, gastric, and gastroesophageal cancers and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Iowa Oncology Research Association

History: Established in 1978, the Iowa Oncology Research Association (IORA) offers central Iowans the opportunity to participate in over 100 national and international research studies. Sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, these studies cover all areas of cancer treatment and prevention.
